Your Safety is Our Priority
The entire team at Young & Tanner General Dentistry has gone above and beyond our everyday safety practices, adding an even more powerful layer of protection at our East Cobb dental office. We care about everyone’s oral and overall health — you, your family, our team, and our families. Sterilization and disinfection have always been a top priority, and now more than ever. These extra steps we’ve put in place are designed not to worry you but to reassure you that we’re doing whatever it takes to keep you and your smile safe.
Easy, Convenient Patient Pre-Screening Protocol
When you arrive at our East Cobb dental office, you’ll now see there’s a sign out front asking you to please remain inside your car and give us a call so we know you’ve arrived. We’ll notify you as soon as we’re ready for you to enter the office. (Please note that all patients are required to wear a mask when inside the building.) To help follow proper social distancing guidelines, we’re allowing up to three people at a time to be present in our reception area. One of our friendly team members will then take your temperature, help you update your health history, and complete a COVID-19 screening form.
New Sterilization and Disinfection Measures
Things around the office might look slightly different, but we’re all still here and so excited to provide you and your family with trusted, safe, and reliable general dentistry in East Cobb. You’ll see we’ve installed a large piece of plexiglass between our front desk team and patients, creating a barrier to prevent the spread of germs. Everyone you come in contact with will be wearing at least one type of mask. After every patient completes their paperwork, we are disinfecting the clipboards and pen. Countertops, door handles, and the entire reception area are all wiped down continuously throughout the day. Please feel free to use some hand sanitizer. We have conveniently placed dispensers throughout the office.
When it comes to sterilization and tools, our office has always exceeded the standard protocols. We’re running a Statim Autoclave for safe, precise instrument sterilization. When you’re taken into the hygiene room, we’re also asking that you rinse with an antimicrobial mouthwash before being seated for your appointment. You’ll also notice we’ve installed additional plastic barriers to cover all equipment and computers. Know that we’re adhering to, and even exceeding, some of the guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the American Dental Association, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
An Update on Personal Protective Equipment
You might find that our friendly team members look a little different when you come for your next visit. All of our front desk team members will now be wearing masks. Doctors, assistants, and hygienists will all have on Level 3 facial protection along with another mask over the top of that during your treatment. We’ll also be wearing:
- Safety glasses or goggles
- Face shields
- Head coverings
- A long, waterproof barrier gown
- Protective gloves
As of now, we’re no longer using the Cavitron or any ultrasonic tools to reduce the creation of aerosols. We do also ask that patients wear eye covering during your treatment or cleaning. You can wear your own or choose from what we have. The glasses are then yours to keep or dispose of, whatever you choose!
If you’re unsure about any of these new guidelines, please don’t hesitate to reach out and call us. We’re happy to answer any questions you may have over the phone and get you and your family scheduled for upcoming cleanings or necessary dental treatment.
